We have a very clear blueprint and process to applying our creativity across our business. Across our network we are developing 10 connected Innovation + Creative hubs. Our Innovation + Creative hubs consists of creative strategists and creative directors, content + publishing strategists and digital planning + optimisation experts along with data analysts, all working concurrently.
In addition to our I+C hubs we also have a global Studio network. These Studios house our design and production expertise; content creators, digital and graphic designers, editors, film-makers and copywriters creativity bring to life our communication campaigns.
What we are looking for:
We would like to appoint a Creative Director to become an accelerant and further catalyst for development of our Innovation + Creative Hub and lead our Canadian Studio based in Toronto, building it into a leading creative, strategic and innovation hub for our clients and network. You will help connect our Hub and Studio, inspiring clients and our teams. You are a creative visionary with a relentless passion for innovative client work, who knows how to get your ideas heard, loves developing your ideas with clients and isn’t afraid of getting your hands dirty while building up a craft-based team around you. Your entrepreneurial spirit is your driving force. You are passionate, collaborative and people genuinely enjoy working with you.
You will work alongside the disciplines of Creative Strategy, Content + Publishing, Digital Planning + Optimisation and Data + Analytics to develop award winning and innovative ideas for our clients as well as managing and inspiring the creators in our Studio.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Lead the Studio team in Toronto, working with teams across the country to deliver exceptional work
Strategically push the creative integrity of all campaigns and deliverables to cement H+K’s reputation as a global leader for creative excellence in an evolving industry
Drive innovation within our Creative + Innovation Hub by continually pushing the boundaries of our creative output into new and relevant areas
Foster true collaboration, establishing creative as a lead component of integrated client programs across multiple industry sectors and teams
Build and manage budgets and in partnership other client leads help open doors to new creative opportunities within an account
Manage the studio commercially; oversee budgets, manage profitability and work with the CFO on financial reporting.
Attract creative talent with varied backgrounds, while continuing to manage and mentor our current team
Executing current client projects that exceed expectation and client objectives
Deliver breakthrough storytelling initiatives with channel agnostic ideas that command attention
Study the success of our Hubs + Studios around the globe and interpret those successes and best practices into a Canadian-based model that expands our business

What you’ll need to get here:
Well-established in the creative community with experience building and leading creative teams, with a network of trusted talent and vendors to draw upon
10+ years of progressive experience in a creative leadership position–agency experience is ideal
Compelling portfolio with distinctive work examples of direct leadership, strategy, and execution that focus on both existing customers and full funnel executions for prospective customers across all channels
Detail-oriented and organized
A proven track record of success leading projects of all sizes across a wide variety of industry sectors by linking creative strategy to client objectives
Passionate about a collaborate creative process, able to lead a project with multiple stakeholders to ensure flawless execution while taking other key stakeholder requests into consideration
Superb presentation and communication skills, bringing charisma and passion to sell ideas to both client contacts and internal stakeholders
Ability to take an idea and transform it into a 360, multi-channel campaign, with a focus on and depth of integrated and digital expertise
A natural leader with ambition to push yourself and mentor your team outside of the traditional lines
Experienced in cross-discipline collaboration to ensure design consistency across the consumer journey and various touch points
Ability to thrive under pressure, juggling multiple clients, teams and deadlines
A team player with a “no task is too small” attitude
Love of business development and the ability to grow the business through new client wins and organic growth of existing clients
Expert in Adobe Suite, Teams, and willingness to adopt any other relevant tools required

The Global Studios:
As we develop the communication campaigns for our clients across the earned, owned, paid and shared space we turn to the creative and design expertise in the Studio to help develop and breathe life into our ideas. From the creation of a new identity to a full-length documentary, a digital content hub to the latest interactive experience the Global Studio creates the content that carries our stories to audiences across the globe.
The ambition is to build and integrate the expertise of a new Studio throughout our US business as required working in a concurrent way with experts from our sectors and other areas of expertise such as behavioral insights, data + analytics, content + publishing and digital planning + optimization. We want to develop new ways of working that see content + publishing strategists working alongside film directors and data analysts working with designers, all focused on the same client centric goal.
